Okonjima Luxury Bush Camp

Okonjima is much more than a luxury lodge. It is also the home of the AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation and welfare of Namibia's wild predators, especially cheetahs and leopards.

The Foundation takes on a large number of cats who are caught on farmlands, including orphaned cubs. The AfriCat Cheetah Rehabilitation project was initiated to give some of the cheetah orphans an opportunity to return to their natural environment, and once they have proved that they can hunt and sustain themselves, they are relocated to private game reserves.

An ideal length of time to visit is 2 nights, which gives you the opportunity to participate in the many activities on offer including:

The tracking on foot of the rehabilitated cheetahs on the Cheetah Tracking Trail, or radio-tracking leopards from an open game viewing vehicle in the 4,000 hectare rehabilitation area

The luxury Bush Camp is situated at the edge of a wilderness area. Each of the 8 unique thatched, African-style chalets enjoys complete privacy, and is an attractive combination of earthy, ochre walls and khaki-green canvas, under a thatched roof.

The front 180 degrees of canvas panelling can be rolled up, inviting you to enjoy your own 'bushveld' vista.

In front of each chalet, a birdbath is visited by a variety of birds and small mammals.
