Ibo is just one of a string of 32 tropical islands that make up the breathtakingly beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago in Northern Mozambique, strung along the coast parallel to Pemba. Ibo Island is the best known of the islands in the Quirimbas and has a fascinating history of slavery and some opulent beautiful architecture.

Encounter empty stretches of beaches and explore some of the world's richest coral reefs. Discover a coastline fringed by tropical islands on an ancient Arab Dhow - still built to the same design as the vessels which a thousand years ago sailed from India. Snack on cashew nuts and tropical fruit and dine on the freshest of seafood of every description.

Ibo Island lodge encompasses 3 magnificent mansions each over a century old with walls a meter thick and high lofty ceilings. Located right on the prime waterfront site, where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide, the lodge offers an informal island experience, and with just 9 rooms assures guests of exceptional service and flexibility.

The main lodge has 2 swimming pools set in tropical gardens, an air-conditioned lounge and private dinning room as well as a roof terrace restaurant with an open-air lounge area for after dinner drinks under the stars.

Guests are accommodated in beautifully simple, yet elegant rooms with indigenous solid teak and mahogany furniture handcrafted by local people.

All bedrooms are individually designed and unique, with many opening onto private verandas.
