Desert Rhino Camp
Palmwag Rhino Camp is a luxury tented camp run in conjunction with the 'Save the Rhino Trust', in the private Palmwag area of the rugged northern Damaraland.
The camp offers a brilliant insight into the ecology and conservation of this incredible area and at the same time contributes directly to the Trust and ultimately the sustainability of this vulnerable area and its wildlife.
The camp is in the heart of black rhino breeding territory, and the highlight of a stay here is tracking this rare creature on foot.
The area traversed while tracking the rhino is over 450,000 hectares.
Other wildlife in the area includes mountain zebra, giraffe, gemsbok, springbok, ostrich, desert elephants, lion, cheetah, leopard, and both spotted and brown hyena.
The main area of the camp has a comfortable lounge and bar area, and a dining area with a 'family' style table around which all meals are served.
Another highlight is the game drive through the private wilderness at the beginning and end of your stay.
All meals, drinks on game drives, local drinks (including house wine, soft drinks and juice, mineral water, local beers, and some spirits) and activities are included.
The rates exclude all imported and premier drinks and liquors (including South African bottled wine), telephone, if applicable, curios and child minding, any road or air transfers to and from the lodge, all airport taxes and applicable entrance fees.
Children aged 8 years and older are welcome. Rates available on request.
