The malaria-free area is home to Africa’s famous Big 5, as well as many animal species unique to the Waterberg, one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth. From antelope, zebra, giraffe, hyena and wild dog, the variety of flora and fauna in this natural paradise help to create a true African safari experience.

Enjoy an early morning safari and watch as the sun rises over the reserve, before heading back to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and settling down for your midday siesta.

Rates Include

Three meals daily; twice daily game drives in open safari vehicles with sundowners and snacks; tea/coffee; the Welgevonden Conservation Fee; and road transfers from the Welgevonden Main Gate or either of the 2 runways to the lodge are included. PLEASE NOTE: All other drinks are NOT included.

Children Policy

Children aged 10 years and over are welcome. Rates available on request.

Directions For Drivers

From Johannesburg or Pretoria: Take N1 North towards Pietersburg. Ensure you have cash on you at this stage, as this road has several toll gates. At the Kranskop Toll Gate go left towards Modimolle (Nylstroom) on the R33. Pass through Modimolle and head in the direction of Vaalwater. Pass directly through Vaalwater (R33 becomes the R517) and continue on this road until you see the signs for the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve. Keep going until you see the turn-off for the Welgevonden Main Gate on your left-hand side. Do not turn left at South Gate or East Gate!

PLEASE NOTE: As no private vehicles are allowed in the reserve, guests have to be picked up from the Welgevonden Main Gate by the rangers at 12:30 daily.

General Information For Guests

The rooms are all en-suite with indoor and outdoor showers. They also include a hairdryer, fan and tea/coffee making facilities.

The lodge consists of 2 lounges, a bar, dining room, spa and a central swimming pool with an expansive deck.

Activities at Tshwene Lodge include 2 game drives daily and bird watching.

The spa offers a variety of different treatments and massages (additional cost).
