The Garden Route

Tsala Treetop Lodge Location Map

Part of the Relais & Chateaux group of exclusive properties, Tsala Treetop Lodge is a beautiful blend of stone, wood, glass and water high above the floor of the magnificent indigenous forests of the Garden Route, only 10 km west from Plettenberg Bay and 24 km east from the busy holiday town of Knysna. From dolphin spotting to coastal forests, and from adrenalin sports to relaxing on vast white-sand beaches or sunset catamaran cruises, there are endless options to fill your days here.

The magical allure of Tsala is irresistable to those who appreciate exclusivity and fine fare and who also want some romance. The afro-baroque décor with its earthy colours, rich textures and handcrafted fittings draws inspiration from the diverse cultures of Africa, yet remains integrated with the sophistication of the Western world.

The main lodge has a magnificent foyer featuring polished blackwood columns and a glass fronted lounge with views of the forest and valley.

Large open suspended decks are ideal for dining and sunset viewing, and the library features reference books on the area.

Superb and imaginative cuisine, reflecting the diversity of South African cultures, is a dining highlight and the wine cellar is stocked with the best South African Estate wines.

Elevated boardwalks high in the forest canopy allow easy access between the main lodge and the 10 exclusive and very private suites and the 6 luxury villas.

Each suite, rising to heights exceeding 6 metres, is a harmonious combination of the craftsmanship of ancient times and the indulgent luxury of every modern convenience. All have a private deck with sun loungers and infinity pool, a sitting room with a wood fire, and a spacious bathroom with inside and outside showers.

The villas are ideal for families or couples travelling together. Each villa has 2 bedrooms, so they are ideal for groups up to 4 people, as well as a private deck with an infinity pool overlooking the forest below.

G DAVIES

Start TestimonialTsala was really special, and again, I felt that they went out of their way to ensure we had a really good time there. They gave us complimentary champers, arranged a picnic for us, and also suggested a surprise sunset bottle of wine down at a secluded view point which was a really nice touch.End Testimonial

L POODLE

Start TestimonialThe holiday was great - thanks for your help with it all. I don't know where to begin ... all the accommodation was spot on ... I think for serenity, views and the breakfasts, the Dune Guest Lodge was a great place. Of course, Tsala was really beautiful too but our day there was slightly marred by ongoing drizzle - at least we could have a cosy fire though ! The highlight would have to be the safari - the folk at Amakhala Safari Lodge were very welcoming and gave us a good / varied itinerary of activities. It was great to find our suite all spic and span everytime we went back to it ! The food was pretty good too and it was most memorable driving around the reserves - we got to see pretty much all the animals - lions, cheetahs, rhinos, buffalos, elephants etc - no leopards but never mind.End Testimonial

Start TestimonialWe're back in the UK now after the most incedible holiday. I just want to say thank you for putting the trip together for us it was superb. The game lodge at Exeter River and the staff there were amazing, we saw so much wildlife, fantastic. The Windermere at Port Elizabeth although there only one night was very good, again the staff were so helpful. Tsala Treetop is almost beyond words, what an amazing place. Ocean Eleven at Hermanus was all the web site said and more - we had whales playing in the bay right outside our window. And last but not least the Alta Bay in Cape Town, you could not find a more friendly place if you tried, our stay there was the most enjoyable we have had anywhere in the world. So it's 10 out of 10 to you and a very big thank you.End Testimonial

D BLAND

Start TestimonialThe trip was absolutely fantastic and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. All the accommodation we stayed in was fantastic - the highlights were definitely the Tsala Tree Top Lodge and the Shamwari tent. The location of the Table Bay Hotel was excellent and Franschhoek was brilliant. I think we will both return next year and spend more time in the Winelands and go back to the Shamwari. Travel Butlers did a brilliant job and everything, from accommodation and transfers to the car hire booking went very smoothly indeed. You took a lot of the pain out of organising the trip and we wont hesitate to recommend you or use you again (hopefully next year!). The Wedding Registry was fabulous and we are very grateful that you set this up in time for our wedding. All the guests noted how good the site was and enjoyed looking at our itinerary.End Testimonial
