Timbavati Game Reserve

Geiger's Camp Location Map

Geiger’s Camp is situated in the Motswari Private Game Reserve, which is part of the the 60,000 hectare Timbavati Game Reserve. Perched on a ridge with panoramic views of Big 5 terrain, this luxury safari camp fuses tasteful elegance with historic, rustic charm.

The Big 5 (rhino, elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo) are abundant in this part of the Timbavati Game Reserve, and even if your stay is short, you are sure to encounter many of these amazing animals during your game drives from Geiger’s Camp. Game drives are in open Land Rovers, at sunrise and sunset, ensuring that you’re treated to the loveliest scenes of nature and wildlife that the Timbavati has to offer. Birdwatchers, meanwhile, will find a huge array of winged ones to tick off, as there are over 350 bird species to be spotted year-round.

For an even more intimate interaction with the wild, you can request a guided walking safari with one of the experienced and armed trail guides, who will answer any question that comes to mind. For the adventurous, there is also the option to embark on an overnight walking safari, sleeping out at a tented campsite deep in the bush.

In addition, a short drive away, a private under-the-stars experience for 2 adults awaits. At this special location, overlooking a dam, guests have the opportunity to experience a tree house sleep out (additional cost).

Geiger’s Camp originated as a traditional-style family home and it retains this homely feel, elevated to luxury accommodation standard. An exclusive little hideaway built from rock and stone, it has just 4 rooms. The camp can also be booked out on an exclusive basis.

Each suite is different and tastefully styled. Sumptuous antique and art deco chairs, an old chest with its own story, a room divider with leather inset next to a hanging brass lamp...each room is an eclectic treasure trove of furniture. In the spacious bathrooms are freestanding, ball-and-claw baths and copper basins that complement the feel of being on safari in a more genteel era. Or you can cool off under an outdoor shower.
