David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa

Victoria Falls - Zambia

Days 1 - 2: Victoria Falls - Zambia

David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa Location Map

Situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River overlooking the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, and just 7 km from the Victoria Falls, the 5* David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa offers world class facilities in a tranquil setting.

Entering the lodge guests are magically transported back to the pioneering adventures of the early European explorers, where you can savour the true elegance of a bygone era.  Design and decor is quintessentially colonial varied with elements of raw stone, wood and earth, and accented by shades of gold, bronze, copper and ivory, all once traded on ancient Arab routes. A hint of Zanzibar decor adds the alluring spice colours of the orient.

The David Livingstone Camelot Spa looks over the stunning panorama of the Victoria Falls, and offers a wide variety of therapeutic and beauty therapies and treatments. There is also an infinity swimming pool, which flows into the Zambezi River.

The lodge has its own beautiful river cruiser, the Lady Livingstone, which is moored alongside the hotel, offering daily sundowner cruises.

Guests can dine at either the Kalai Restaurant situated in the main lodge next to the reception area, which offers Afro-Arabian fusion food, or at the Gwembe Terrace - a casual meeting place, where guests can sit back, relax and watch the magnificent African sunset while sipping on cocktails and tucking into the local dishes. The Ujiji Bar is where guests can enjoy a wide selection of South African and international wines, as well as choose from a variety of unique cocktails created by the skilled bar butlers.

There are 77 rooms and suites in total, all en-suite. Most rooms look out over the mighty Zambezi River and have a private balcony, offering the same serene views that once captivated David Livingstone, the intrepid explorer and missionary who was the first European to set eyes on the Falls.

Chobe Princess Houseboat

Chobe River

Days 3 - 4: Chobe River

Chobe Princess Houseboat Location Map

With only a small number of guests per boat and no set itinerary, staying on the Chobe Princess is like being on your very own luxury houseboat. As you drift down the Chobe River and spot incredible wildlife scenes, you'll be able to completely relax and enjoy this intimate river safari experience.

There are smaller 'tender' boats for use on daily excursions that take your fancy - mark off over 450 bird species found in this wetland paradise, try your hand at landing a tiger fish, or capture Africa's beauty and wildlife from the unique perspective of being on the water rather than on the land.  Alternatively, simply laze on a deck chair with an ice-cold drink in hand as you soak up the tranquillity that surrounds you.

When you're on holiday, the food you eat and the meals you enjoy become part of your memories. That's why as a guest on the Chobe Princess, the staff make sure that every one of the 3 hearty meals they serve per day are unforgettably delicious - along with the drinks and snacks provided in between.

At sunrise, enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee with wholesome rusks and biscuits before departing by tender boat for game viewing and other excursions. After an exciting morning – or even if you've chosen to stay on board and lie in – settle in on the deck for a fresh continental buffet or a hot English breakfast if you prefer. Lunch and dinner are set menus with a single option. Finally, after sipping on a traditional African safari sundowner, sit down to a 3 course evening meal as you’re serenaded to the sounds of hyenas, elephant and perhaps even lion nearby. After dinner, enjoy a coffee and a nightcap before heading to your cabin to round off the perfect day and fall asleep with the calls of wild Africa drifting through the open doors of your cabin.

Each Standard Cabin on board the Chobe Princess is tastefully decorated in a contemporary style, and each has its own private view through beautiful big sliding windows onto the ever-changing landscapes beyond. As you lie on your kingsized bed, spot an elephant grazing on the riverbank nearby, or see a fish eagle diving for its prey. The Superior Cabin has a private balcony, giving you a private front-row seat to the wildlife and incredible scenery.

On the upper entertainment deck, a spacious lounge and bar area encourages you to take time out while there's also a plunge pool that's perfect for a refreshing dip. In addition, tea, coffee and home-baked goodies are readily available at the bar area of the entertainment deck for you to enjoy at any time of day.
