From Cape Town International Airport: Follow the N2 from the Airport towards Cape Town. When you reach the mountain turn left on the M3 - Muizenberg turn-off (N.B. Do not take the M5 - Muizenberg). Continue on the M3 until the Kendal Road turn-off. Turn Right into Kendal Road, and left into Spaanschemat River Road at the T-junction. Continue over the traffic lights, and as the road bends at the bottom of the hill, you will need to turn right into WILLOW HOUSE. Reception for THE CONSTANTIA is on your left as you enter the gate.

This unforgettable journey takes 2 nights, departing Cape Town at 16:00 on selected dates. As the sky darkens over the landscape on your first night aboard, you adorn yourself in your finest silks and satins, diamonds and pearls, tuxedos and ties, as you prepare to dine in the subtle intimacy of a table for 2 or in the privacy of your own suite.

The next day after a relaxing morning and a sumptuous 3 course lunch, you arrive at Kimberley Station, where you visit the Kimberley Open Mine Museum. Experience this town as it was during the diamond years, and see the largest uncut diamond in the world, and also visit the Big Hole - the largest hand-dug excavation in the world.

Having spent a second night on the train, breakfast can be enjoyed at leisure and is served between 07:30 and 10:00. The train arrives into Pretoria at 10:30, and you will be assisted by your butler to disembark and make your way into the Arrivals Lounge..

The Cape Town Railway Station is located along Adderley and Strand Streets in the Central Business District.

The Pretoria Railway Station is located at Scheiding Street.

Check In / Check Out

Guests can check in from 14:30 at the Pre-Departure Lounge at Cape Town Railway Station, where they can enjoy a pre-departure drink and snacks. Boarding is between 15:30 and 15:45. The train departs at 16:00, and the anticipated arrival time into Pretoria is two days later at 10:30 in the morning.

It is advisable to pack an overnight case for the journey as only a limited amount of luggage can be stored in your suite. Your butler will store additional baggage in the luggage van.

All table d'hote meals and room service snacks are included in the rate. Should you require a snack, you are requested to contact your butler. Lunch and dinner are usually served in 2 sittings, while breakfast is at your leisure.

The stylish luxury of the Blue Train is conducive to dressing for dinner. Evening wear is elegant and gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket and tie. During the day, dress is smart casual.

Bottled water is supplied in your suite. Your butler will provide you with more on request.

Trained first aid personnel are on board at all times. In the event of an emergency, doctors and first aid personnel can be contacted at the various stations en-route.

Souvenirs and gifts are available for sale in the souvenir shop.

Guests who wish to show their appreciation may leave a gratuity in the box located in the lounge car, at the end of the journey. Gratuities are shared on a points system between the Blue Train personnel on board.

A limited on board laundry and valet service is available. Please contact your butler for assistance.

The lounge car is designed as a meeting place for pre-lunch and dinner drinks and afternoon tea, while the club car is ideal for a post-prandial cognac or cigar. The bar opens as soon as the train commences its journey and closes when the last guest departs. Please note that the lounge and dining cars are non-smoking areas. All drinks are included in the rate except for certain imported beverages which can be purchased from your butler.

Safes are provided in all suites. While every precaution is taken, the Blue Train cannot be held liable for loss of valuable items left unattended in suites.

The international telephone beside your bed in your suite will allow you to dial the manager or your butler 24 hours a day. Should you wish to make an outside call, please contact the Train Manager or your butler, who will be glad to assist. The cost of your external calls and faxes are not included in the rate.

The Train Manager is on call at all times. Please do not hesitate to contact him should you require assistance or information while on your journey.

At the 1st set of traffic lights, turn left into Leyds Street. To your left will be the University of Pretoria (Groenkloof Campus). To your right will be the South African Bureau of Standards. At the top of the hill, turn right into Bourke Street. Illyria is the 3rd house on the left.

Jock Safari Lodge is one of the very first privately owned camps situated in the world famous Kruger National Park, with exclusive traversing rights over 6,000 hectares of private concession in what is regarded as the best Big 5 game viewing area.

Daily guided game drives and walks led by professional rangers offer exciting close encounters with Africa's wildlife, including lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. Some of the drives will be on the lodge's own concession, but others may be in the Kruger Park itself, where your ranger will be restricted to remaining on the road network at all times.

Guests are offered African cuisine which incorporates an abundance of flavours. The head chef and his team conjure up dishes of legendary proportions, allowing your taste buds to follow their own African journey.  The cuisine is presented in a variety of locations, from silver service in the elegant dining room, to an eating adventure under the panorama of the African night.

If you are entering the Park for the first time, the best gate to enter through is the Orpen Gate. If you are driving to the camp from within the Park, please use the 'South African National Parks Visitors Guide to the Kruger National Park' which contains detailed road maps.

From Johannesburg: Take the N12 to Witbank/eMalahleni. This becomes the N4. Follow the N4 through Nelspruit and Malelane until you see the Malelane Gate Kruger Park sign, where you turn left. There is a Kruger National Park Concession Fee payable in cash at the entrance gate - this is currently R83 per person per stay - subject to change. When in the Park, follow the Malelane Gate/Skukuza road. The camp is signposted off this road.

Do not get out of your car until you reach the lodge. You may see some wildlife on your way - if you do, slow down and maintain a good distance. Do not drive off-road in any circumstances.

PLEASE NOTE: The Kruger National Park prohibits the use of roads within the Park before the gates are open and once the gates are closed, therefore guests need to plan their arrival and departure times carefully. You cannot arrange to leave the Park before the gates are open, and you must ensure that you arrive at the entrance gate with sufficient time to drive through the Park to reach your destination by the time the gate closes, otherwise you may not be permitted to enter.

The Jock Concession is located approximately 35 km from the Malelane Gate, so you should allow at least an hour to drive through the Park to reach the lodge.

Please note that the maximum speed limit in the Park is 50 km/h for tar roads and 40 km/h for gravel roads.

From Pretoria: Take the N4 and follow directions above.

PLEASE NOTE: Flights to/from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA/MQP) should be booked to arrive at KMIA/MQP no later than 14:30 on day of arrival/depart from KMIA/MQP no earlier than 10:00 on day of departure.

Rooms may normally be occupied from 14:00 on the day of arrival. If possible, aim to arrive at the lodge around this time, so you can check into your room and relax before your first afternoon game drive, but if you don't think you can arrive by this time, you should aim to arrive by 15:00 at the very latest, or else you may miss the afternoon drive.

Children of any age are welcome. Children under 7 years are not allowed on game drives. Babysitting services are available.

All rooms are en-suite with a bathroom and outdoor shower. They also include air conditioning, a mini bar, hair dryer, tea/coffee making facilities, international dial telephone, electronic safe, ceiling fan, sala (outdoor day bed) and a selection of books. Each room has a private plunge pool and deck.

The lodge consists of indoor and outdoor dining areas, a library with a television and DVD player, gift boutique, swimming pool with a deck and a relaxation retreat with a sauna and exercise room.

Activities available at Jock Safari Lodge include game drives, walking safaris and birdwatching.
