Discover Namibia's Nature

Summary Of The Route and Costs

A 13 night itinerary where the main focus is on wildlife and getting back to nature. Enjoy game drives across Etosha's vast plains, walk as the sun rises through the bush, track leopard and desert elephants, and visit Bushmen rock art sites.

After a night in Windhoek to recover from any lost sleep after your international flight, you set off for the drive to the Erongo Mountains. Just a few hours north of Windhoek, this is a beautiful way to start your holiday. Relax, go on walks or scenic nature drives, and enjoy the Bushman art found here during your 2 night stay.

Then you head to the Etosha National Park, spending a total of 6 nights at 3 different camps, on the west, southern and eastern side of the Park.  Go out with a guide to explore the Park on a game drive, before hopping in your own car and driving across the Park under your own steam. Head out on a morning bush walk and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the bush without any engine noise, and depart on a night drive to hunt out the nocturnal animals of the bush.

Etosha is home to 114 different species of mammal, including 4 of the famous Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant and rhino (both black and white). It also boasts over 400 species of bird and 110 species of reptile. You'll also find 3 rare antelope species amongst its hills and valleys - the lovely black-faced impala, the graceful roan antelope and the Damara dik-dik, Southern Africa's tiniest antelope, which stands only 40cm tall to the shoulder as a fully grown adult.

You then head to Damaraland for 2 nights. Activities include nature drives and walks while further afield, ancient rock art and geological wonders dot the area. At the end of each day, the open campfire and outdoor boma will be where you will spend your evenings and the stargazing is superb, thanks to the crystal-clear night skies.

Finally, you visit Okonjima for the last 2 nights of the trip - home to the AfriCat Foundation, an organisation whose mission is to try and ensure a future for the large carnivores of Namibia. Witness some of the projects at work during your stay here.

You then drive back to Windhoek Airport, arriving in time to check in for your flight home.
