AndBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp

Okavango Delta

Days 1 - 2: Okavango Delta

AndBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp Location Map

A wetland wilderness of looping channels, islands forested with palms and wide grassy floodplains, the Okavango Delta is home to a magnificent array of wild animals and exceptional birdlife. AndBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp is located on the edge of the Delta in a 25,000 hectare exclusive private wildlife concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve.

Meaning 'Place of the Giraffe', Nxabega is ideally positioned for guests to explore the magnificence of this wonderful area on twice-daily game-drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles led by experienced guides. Exciting spotlit night game-drives may reveal hunting prides of lion or the elusive leopard and other nocturnal creatures. If water levels are high enough, mokoro and powerboat excursions are offered too. Great fishing occurs from March to December, with an abundance of bream, catfish, tilapia, and the predatory tiger fish being a popular catch.

The heart of Nxabega lies in its handsome living and dining areas, where burnished teak floors and a steeply pitched thatch roof frame a lofty and comfortable space. The guest areas include indoor and outdoor dining areas and a well-stocked Safari Shop. The camp’s extensive pool area offers salas for shade, and comfortable loungers positioned to make the most of the beautiful views. A dedicated massage sala allows guests to enjoy a decadent treatment in a private setting that plays on the tranquil environment.  The spectacular open air boma is used for starlight night time dining.

Guests can also enjoy exciting bush picnics in surprise settings, breakfast in bed, lamplit cocktails on a river island, or a walking safari with tasty picnic - all provided with pleasure by Nxabega's warm and friendly staff.

The camp is known for its elegant tented accommodation. Raised on wooden platforms, the 9 spacious tented suites let in the sights and sounds of the African bush and have light and earthy interiors. Front-facing beds make the most of the sensational reed-filled floodplain. The beautiful bathrooms come complete with indoor and al fresco showers, and there is also a sprawling veranda with a spacious sitting area and a private sala.

Two interleading luxury tents make up a family tent, ensuring a magical multi-generational travel experience for all.

AndBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp

Okavango Delta

Days 3 - 4: Okavango Delta

AndBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp Location Map

Unobtrusive and constructed to "float" in its secluded location in the clear waters, AndBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is superbly located to explore the fascinating and fragile Okavango ecosystem. It is the only camp in a 272,500 hectare concession and is only reachable by boat during the high water season (from May to September).

With very few vehicles sharing the concession, game viewing here is remote and secluded. Sensitive off-road driving practices in 4x4 vehicles out onto the savanna grasslands allow guests to get up close to the area’s exceptional wildlife. Lion, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog share the floodplains with large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as ostrich, tsessebe and roan antelope. The afternoon drives continue after night, allowing for an opportunity to see the many animals that are more active after sunset, including leopard and serval. Lion also frequently hunt at night and there is always a chance of coming upon them feeding on a kill.

During the high water season, guests can enjoy a safari excursion on a mokoro, gliding silently through the maze like channels and shallow lagoons of the Delta. You will see many animals that feed on the grass and reeds on the palm islands here such as lechwe, sitatunga, elephant, hippo and crocodile. Game viewing is also offered during these months in motorised boats, allowing you to cover more ground and see more of the landscape. Fishing excursions on a 'catch and release' basis can also be arranged. Guided bush walks and helicopter flights are also experiences not to be missed during your stay here.

The overall atmosphere of the camp is cool, light and airy, in keeping with the gentle beauty of its environment.

There are 9 sleek tented suites, made out of canvas and bleached wood to echo the shimmering watery surrounds. The suites have en-suite bathrooms with luxuriant baths as well as indoor and al fresco showers and large private plunge pools. A romantic sala on your private deck provides a contemplative space with a view to either read a book, nap or listen to the birdlife in paradise.

The intimate main guest areas boasts a spacious reading area, perfect for afternoon relaxation. The elevated dining area features shady verandas with mesmerising views leading out onto an open-air boma where exotic candlelit dinners are served beneath the stars.
