3 Day Package on Amakhala Game Reserve

Stay for 3 nights at any of the lodges on the malaria-free 7,000 hectare Big 5 Amakhala Game Reserve, just 40 minutes drive from Port Elizabeth, and you can enjoy the following fully inclusive itinerary for just an additional R720 per person per stay - this MUST be requested at the time of booking and is payable directly to the lodge while you are there.  The exception is at Amakhala Safari Lodge, where there is NO additional cost to include this itinerary as part of your stay here !


 

Your 3 Day Itinerary

This is an outline of the itinerary you can enjoy during your stay at one of the lodges.  Please note that the following itinerary may follow a slightly different order, depending on the lodge you are staying at.

Day One

Arrive at the lodge at around 2 pm, and enjoy a welcome drink.  At 3 pm, you set off on your first game drive on the Amakhala Game Reserve, returning to the lodge after sunset for dinner.

Day Two

Set off on an early game drive into the Addo Elephant National Park.  This National Park is home to the highest density of African elephants in the world. 

You will be driven around by one of the knowledgeable Amakhala rangers in an Amakhala vehicle.  A packed breakfast is taken along to be enjoyed at a scenic stop.  You then return to the lodge for lunch, a nap or a swim.

In the afternoon, at 3 pm you set off again on another game drive on the Amakhala Game Reserve.  Return to the lodge after dark for dinner.

Day Three

Enjoy a 45 minute tour of the Shamwari Born Free Centre and then enjoy a game drive on Amakhala.  Return to the lodge for lunch, and in the afternoon, embark on another game drive on the Amakhala Game Reserve.  Return to your lodge for dinner.

Day Four

For guests staying at Amakhala Safari Lodge ONLY, this mornings activity will be a morning guided walk through the valley thicket;.

For guests staying at any of the other lodges, the activity will be a game drive on Amakhala.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and then check out is by 11 am.


Additional activities : One of the game drives on the Amakhala Game Reserve will include a river cruise - times subject to individual lodges.


This package MUST be requested at the time of booking. The itinerary may differ slightly depending on the lodge. For a 3 night stay at any lodge APART FROM Amakhala Safari Lodge, there is an additional cost to book this package of R720 per person per stay - this is to cover the entrance fees into the Addo Elephant National Park and Shamwari Born Free Centre. This cost will be payable directly to the lodge when you arrive. However, should this offer be used in conjunction with the Stay for 3 nights, Only Pay for 2 nights OR the Stay for 4 nights, Only Pay for 3 nights Special Offers also being run at the same time, then the additional cost of R720 per person is applicable to stays at ALL lodges.

The 4 comfortable en-suite bedrooms at Reed Valley Inn are positioned in the tranquil working farmyard just on the outside of the reserve's game fences, and are completely separate from the main homesteads to ensure guests' peace and privacy. All meals are taken at Bush Lodge, which is about a 5 or 10 minute drive from Reed Valley Inn into the reserve.

At the end of an exciting day of game viewing on the reserve, guests can enjoy a relaxed and cheerful evening in the old 1832 cellar-bar or enjoy a quiet game of billiards on the full size antique table.
