Malaria-Free Big 5 Safaris in the Madikwe Game Reserve
The 76,000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve is situated in the far north of North West Province, adjacent to the Botswana border and about a 4-5 hour drive from Johannesburg.
The reserve is home to 66 large mammal species including the Big 5, wild dog, cheetah, spotted hyena, giraffe, zebra, and many species of antelope. There have also been approximately 300 resident and migrant bird species recorded here.
Guests are taken on conducted day and night game drives or bush walks. Excellent accommodation is available at various private lodges in the reserve. There are no day visitor facilities - only residents at a lodge may enter the reserve.

Royal Madikwe can accommodate up to 10 guests and there is the option to book either single rooms (over non-peak periods only) OR the entire lodge. The stunning main lodge is an open-sided, thatched area with a stylish lounge, magnificent dining room, well appointed library and broad elevated decks from which to view the mighty savannah beyond.

The Bush Home accommodates just 10 people in double rooms, which are simply decorated but equipped with air-conditioning, mosquito nets and percale linen. The veranda and garden overlook one of the best waterholes in the reserve and often the sightings are as exciting as they are on a game drive.
