Thornybush Game Reserve
Traverse 11,500 Hectares in search of Africa's Big 5
The Thornybush Game Reserve is an 11,500 hectare fenced reserve just west of Timbavati and the Greater Kruger Park.
Whilst the reserve is fenced off from the neighbouring reserves and Kruger, there is still a very high density of wildlife, including all of the Big 5 - in fact, a total of 147 mammals have been recorded here, and over 500 birds.
The reserve is predominantly open savannah, and with the mountains of the nearby Drakensberg Escarpment providing a magnificent backdrop, this is a truly magical part of Africa.
Morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of the wildlife, and guided bush walks give guests a better chance to see some of the smaller creatures of the bush as well as an opportunity to learn more about the flora and fauna of the region and to have a chance to follow tracks in more detail.
