Accommodation in and around Hazyview
The small village of Hazyview is an ideal place to base yourself for a couple of days to explore the Lowveld area around Kruger, and there are several excellent guest houses and hotels here, and in the surrounding area, that Travel Butlers recommend.
It is also an ideal destination if you want to stay outside the Kruger Park, but still drive in for a self-drive safari without staying inside the Park every night.
You can depart Hazyview after breakfast, and drive to either the Phabeni Gate (15 minutes) or the Paul Kruger Gate (45 minutes) to enter the Kruger National Park. If you are a true early bird, you can ask your guest house/hotel to make you a packed breakfast and leave at dawn, so that you arrive at the Park gates as soon as they open (please check times beforehand) - the wildlife is more active early in the morning, so your chances of spotting the animals is greatly increased.
