Bordered by both the Kariega and Bushman’s River Valleys, the 9,000 hectare malaria-free Kariega Game Reserve is home to game and wildlife such as lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, hippo, giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeest, waterbuck and a variety of antelope, as well as a myriad of bird species. 

Morning and afternoon game drives bring you close to the Big 5 of the African bush. During one of your morning game drives over the course of your stay, you will also get to enjoy a majestic cruise down the Kariega River on the 'Kariega Queen'.

Inbetween game drives, well-marked hiking trails on the predator-free eastern section of the reserve offer the opportunity of walking safely amongst more than 25 species of game and birdlife

Or take one the canoes for a leisurely paddle down either the Kariega or the Bushman’s Rivers and watch the river birds and animals go about their daily business.

There are 4 lodges situated on the Kariega Game Reserve, which between them cater for a variety of needs.

Kariega Main Lodge and The Homestead are perfect for groups of friends and families - they cater for younger children but also for the privacy of other guests.

Ukhozi Lodge and River Lodge offer absolute exclusivity and privacy for couples, with children under 12 not allowed.

All the lodges offer a fully inclusive African safari including accommodation, all meals and 2 activities per day.
