Serendipity is a luxury guest house and fine dining restaurant, situated in Wilderness, and is the perfect hideaway from which to explore the Garden Route.

All the air-conditioned guest rooms overlook the Touw River, and guests have free usage of canoes to explore the river and the Wilderness National Park which borders the property.

The property's garden is a delight, and is planted with mature indigenous trees, shrubs, and forest lillies.

The restaurant is situated on the banks of the Wilderness Lagoon and was the Global winner of the 2019 World Luxury Restaurant Awards for South African cuisine and South African winner for fine dining. Pre-dinner apertifs are served on the patio at the water's edge and the chefs will talk guests through the menu in detail.

Directions For Drivers

From Cape Town / Winelands / Hermanus: Follow the N2 to Winderness. As you enter Wilderness, you’ll spot a Caltex Gas/Petrol Station on your left. Turn left into George Road at the Caltex Station. Continue along George Road as it passes through the village and past the Hotel on your left. At the T-Junction with Waterside Road, turn right. After about 1.8 km turn right into Freesia Avenue.

From Port Elizabeth / Knysna: Follow the N2 to Winderness. As you travel through Wilderness, you’ll spot a Caltex Gas/Petrol Station on your right hand-side. Turn right into George Road at the Caltex Station. Continue along George Road as it passes through the village and past the Hotel on your left. At the T-Junction with Waterside Road, turn right. After about 1.8 km turn right into Freesia Avenue.

General Information For Guests

All rooms have air-conditioning, bathrobes, slippers, hair dryer, flat screen DSTV with a full hotel bouquet of programmes, tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary sherry, a fridge, and a safety deposit box. The bathroom has underfloor heating. The view from the bedroom suites and balcony is onto the Touw River Lagoon, bordering the property.

The spacious guest lounge has a fireplace and library.  There is free Wi-Fi in all areas.

Guests have free usage of canoes to explore the river and the Wilderness National Park.

A laundry service is available (additional cost) for guests staying for 3+ days.

The Serendipity Restaurant is situated on the bank of the Touw River Lagoon. The restaurant is open for dinner only Monday-Saturday from 19:00 and is closed on Sunday. Pre-booking is strongly advised and you can do this by following this link:
