Kapama Buffalo Camp

Kapama Buffalo Camp

Kapama Game Reserve

Kapama Buffalo Camp Location Map

Built on the theme of an East-African safari camp of bygone days, Kapama Buffalo Camp offers visitors to the African bush a unique and intimate experience. The camp is located within Kapama Game Reserve, a 15,000 hectare fenced reserve situated near the Kruger National Park. Characterised by rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests, the reserve supports no less than 42 mammal species and approximately 350 bird species. Amongst the mammal species is the Big 5 - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.

Guests can enjoy day and night game drives on open safari vehicles in search of Africa's wildlife, in the company of experienced rangers and trackers. Guests are also encouraged to join their ranger on a morning bush walk to explore the environment.

The camp's refreshing rim flow swimming pool offers respite from the heat of the African summer or the day's adventures may be shared in the open-air bar.

Ten luxury canvas tents, each sleeping 2 guests, are set on stilts in the upper reaches of tall trees. Each tent has air-conditioning and private bathroom facilities, interconnected to other tents by wooden walkways high above a sandy river bed.

Set in an indigenous garden, the accommodation facilities, thatched bar, dining-room and campfire area contribute to the intimate ambience of the camp. At night, lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow under the canopy of treetops.

The Kapama sleep-out offers a million-star overnight experience. Sleeping in the open air on the reserve, elevated high above the ground under the African night sky, is a unique experience. A raised platform is evocatively furnished with an oversized bed festooned in white linen and billowing mosquito netting. It’s completely safe, while being surrounded by only wilderness and wildlife.
