Entabeni Safari Conservancy

Eagle's Nest Location Map

Less than 3 hours drive from Johannesburg, the Entabeni Safari Conservancy is 22,000 hectares of malaria-free, unspoilt game viewing wilderness in the beautiful Waterberg mountain range in the Northern Province.

Guests can enjoy guided game drives and bush walks, horse riding, quad biking and even helicopter flights and hot air balloon flights, all which add up to an experience 'beyond comparison'. The reserve also has 2 Wellness/beauty centres if guests want to be totally pampered.

The rangers often encounter lion on game drives, and elephants roam the reserve and make for awesome viewing. Rhino are very frequently encountered.

The ever elusive leopard can also be seen if you are lucky, and even a fleeting glance is a privilege and definitely a highlight of any safari.

There are also an amazing variety of birds on the reserve, with as many as 380 species in the summer months.

The exclusive Eagle's Nest, with 4 en-suite rooms, nestles high on a hill overlooking Entabeni Lake and Mountain, and is ideal for families or groups of friends travelling together.

This luxury wooden and stone lodge built on stilts provides a perfect setting with spectacular bird's-eye views. A spacious, elegantly decorated private lounge and dining area with fireplace leads on to a unique rock-face boma and sun deck.

Eagle's Nest offers personalised service, tranquillity and privacy.

Directions For Drivers

Important Notice: It is recommended that guests follow these directions instead of relying on a GPS as game fencing restricts access to certain roads in rural areas.

From Johannesburg: Take the N1 North Highway from Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg). Keep on the N1 through the Carousel and Kranskop Tollgates. Travel a further 32 km on the N1. Take the Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) R101A offramp/exit (Route 289).

Drive 8 km to Mookgopong. Turn left at the 2nd set of traffic lights in the town centre (R520) into Nelson Mandela Road. Continue on the R520 for 11 km until you reach a T-junction. Turn left and continue for 500m and turn right at the Marken sign. Keep on the tar road for 24 km. The road becomes a gravel road.

Continue on this road for another 21.5 km. You'll see an Entabeni sign on the righthand side. Turn right and drive 3.3 km on a dirt road until you reach the security entrance gate. For self-drive visitors, there is a R55 per vehicle entry fee (subject to change) payable at the entrance gate in cash.

Do not get out of your car until you reach the lodge. You may see some wildlife on your way - if you do, slow down and maintain a good distance. Do not drive off-road in any circumstances.
