Dwyka Tented Lodge

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Dwyka Tented Lodge Location Map

At the foot of the Warmwaterberg, in the heart of the Little Karoo between Montagu and Barrydale on the famous Route 62, lies the stunning malaria-free Sanbona Wildlife Reserve - 58,000 hectares of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous fauna and flora, rock formations and rock art. Sanbona has an alluring atmosphere of stillness, an air of isolation amid the raw beauty and boundless plains.

Interactive game drives, lasting up to 3 hours, take place at sunrise and sunset. You are guided by your game ranger in an open game viewing vehicle and you are asked to share any particular interests with your ranger who will try to incorporate these into your game drive. On game drives guests will enjoy a sundowner drink at sunset and coffee/tea at sunrise.

An optional walk with a ranger can also be arranged, and will cater for your individual needs. From gentle strolls to challenging trails discovering isolated vistas, the walks reveal the beauty of the reserve. Guests can also enjoy a boat safari, in search of hippos and birds such as fish eagles, grey herons and Egyptian geese.

With the absence of artificial light, the stargazing at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is phenomenal and amongst the best in Southern Africa.

The 9 luxurious and secluded tents at Dwyka Tented Lodge exude an atmosphere of pioneering adventure in this vast landscape. The tents are set in a horseshoe shape, and each has an indoor and outdoor shower, and a private deck with a spa bath.

The main lodge features a Relaxation Retreat with 2 treatment rooms for guests to take advantage of in between activities. The main guest areas also include a bar/lounge area with a fireplace and TV, a dining area, and an open air boma.

Start TestimonialDwyka exceeded our expectations: beautiful accommodations, pampering services, excellent guide --we learned a great deal about the flora and fauna and had an exciting time on the game drives. Solomon was excellent. The drivers of Springbok Atlas were always reliable, arrived early to pick us up, and slow, careful drivers. Thank you!End Testimonial

Start TestimonialAll were very good but the stand out place for us was Dwyka which was the most amazing place we have ever stayed in and would strongly recommend for future guests. The safari was fantastic and I can't imagine it would be much better in the Eastern Cape. We didn't see everything but then it stopped it feeling like a zoo as we had to try and find them. Staff were also very good. Thanks to Natasha for her patience in helping us put together the perfect honeymoon (which it was!).End Testimonial
