Wolwedans Dune Camp

NamibRand Nature Reserve

Wolwedans Dune Camp

Wolwedans nestles into the dunes and is set against a backdrop of extraordinary natural beauty. Located in the heart of NamibRand Nature Reserve, Dunes Lodge is the perfect base from which to explore vast stretches of awe-inspiring and undisturbed nature.

Wolwedans is not a dune hotel or a one night stop over destination, which can be ticked off en-route to the next tourist hot-spot. It is a place to arrive, to be, to learn and unwind, whilst being looked after by a friendly and involved local team. Wolwedans provides an honest, relaxed and down-to-earth atmosphere, free of ‘wannabe’ fanciness and pretence.

Wolwedans provides the perfect base from which to explore vast stretches of undisturbed nature. The personal and informative scenic drives in open Landrovers reveal the wonders of the wilderness.

Scenic flights are another popular activity at Wolwedans. Commencing during the late afternoon, these flights give you a birds-eye view of the Diamond Coast and Sossusvlei and is a truly exhilarating and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

A special attraction at NamibRand is hot-air ballooning. Soaring silently over the dune belts and never-ending plains provides unforgettable and breathtaking 360 degree vistas. From the best viewpoint imaginable, you admire the stark beauty of the Namib for about an hour, before celebrating this once in a lifetime experience with a champagne breakfast at the landing spot.

Positioned on the edge of a 250-metre high dune, the Dune Camp sleeps a maximum of 12 guests in a totally unspoilt setting. Guests stay in comfortable tents, which are pitched on wooden platforms.

A spacious deck, allowing for safe sleep-outs under the stars and a private bathroom make for a rather civilized camping experience.

The lapa is comprised of a lounge, dining area and an open-plan kitchen, which allows guests to chat to the chef while he prepares a sumptious dinner. The sundowner deck with its fireplace is the central meeting point of the camp, making for a cosy and relaxed ambience.
