Only 80 minutes east of Port Elizabeth, a visit to Kariega Game Reserve is the perfect extension of your trip along South Africa's famous Garden Route.

Set high above the spectacular Kariega River Valley, the 9,000 hectare malaria-free Kariega Game Reserve is home to game and wildlife such as lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, hippo, giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeest, waterbuck and a variety of antelope, as well as a myriad of bird species. Due to the diversity of activities on offer at Kariega, anything from 2 to 5 nights can be enjoyed, however, a minimum 2 night stay is highly recommended.

Activies include morning and afternoon guided game drives, hiking trails amongst more than 25 species of game and wonderful birdlife on the non-dangerous section of the reserve, fishing, bird watching, canoeing, mountain biking, and early morning cruises down the Kariega River to enjoy the tranquillity of nature, whilst viewing the wonderful birdlife and game along the river.

The golden beaches of Kenton-on-Sea are less than 15 minutes away, and horse-riding along the beach can also be arranged.

Ukhozi Lodge accommodates 20 guests in 10 suites crafted from log, with panoramic views from private decks. The suites are decorated in an African style and each suite is fully air-conditioned. Each suite also has its own private plunge pool.

During the day and between game drives, guests can soak up the sun around Ukhozi's outdoor heated pool. In the evenings, unwind in front of warm log fires, enjoy sumptuous cuisine or simply share experiences of the African bush with fellow guests.
