Southern Camp

Southern Camp is situated on the southern most section of the Kapama Private Game Reserve. This informal camp offers basic luxury accommodation, accompanied by warm hospitality and friendly service in one of the best bush locations in the country.

Kapama Private Game Reserve is home to the Big 5 of the African bush - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino - and offers guests an unforgettable safari adventure with all the big game as well as 42 other mammal species and over 350 bird species.

Southern Camp offers 2 game drives each day with a ranger and tracker. Rise with the sun, wake up with coffee and then head out into the crisp morning to track down the tallest, the biggest, the fastest, the smallest and the slowest on the reserve. The night safari starts off with high tea before climbing onto your 4x4 vehicle and heading out into the afternoon. Spot the game making their way to the waterholes and preparing for the night which approaches.

After sundowner drinks watching the sun settle beyond the horizon, the game drive proceeds with flash light to spot the nocturnal creatures who own the night. Feel the tension in the air as the big cats prepare to hunt.

Southern Camp offers accommodation for less than 40 guests. Rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, overhead fans and insect screens. There are no noisy air-conditioners, radios, TV’s or fridges in the rooms.

Relax and cool off in the pool, just perfect for those hot summer days or to refresh you after an exciting safari through the bush. Alternatively relax in the lounge with a good book and cool refreshment from the bar. Make sure your binoculars are on hand to watch the jewelled coloured birds flying around or the animals in the nearby bush.
