Phinda Mountain Lodge
With wraparound views of the bushveld below, punctuated by the undulating profile of the Ubombo mountain range, Mountain Lodge is a dramatic and exciting safari destination. Set in the 22,000 hectare Phinda Private Game Reserve, Phinda (meaning 'the return' in Zulu) was a trailblazer in the restoration of over-grazed farmland to its original bushveld state, and the successful reintroduction of the diverse wildlife that once inhabited the area.
The Reserve supports what is probably the world's most successful cheetah reintroduction programme, and offers incomparable sightings of these fleet-footed felines.
Little can compare to Phinda's exciting range of safari activities. Apart from the twice-daily game-drives, nature walks, riverboat cruises and canoe trips along the Mzinene River (available at no additional cost), Phinda also offers a range of optional thrilling Indian Ocean adventures from scuba diving and deep-sea fishing to spectacular air safaris.
Observe the serenity of the South African wilderness from your private deck, surrounded by the indigenous trees and shrubbery of the pristine Zululand bushveld.
There is also a main shaded swimming pool with spectacular game-viewing deck for guests enjoyment in-between game drives.
3 meals daily including all teas and coffees, 2 scheduled game drives daily in an open 4x4 safari vehicle, accompanied by an experienced ranger and tracker OR canoeing OR river boat cruises on the Mzinene River, interactive bush walks (one hour) accompanied by an experienced armed tracker, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, soft drinks and bottled water, laundry service and emergency medical evacuation insurance are included.
