Old Halliwell Country Inn
Old Halliwell is situated in the heart of Kwazulu-Natal's lush Midlands, with unsurpassed views over the misty Klarkloof Valley. The old stone building, a typical gracious Natal veranda home dating back to the 1830s, was known as 'Stephen's Post' on the original wagon route from Durban to the 'interior'. After a long and colourful history, this unique country house has blossomed into an attractive, warm and welcoming Country Inn.
Old Halliwell overlooks lush meadows and the accent is on comfort and good taste. The old stables have been converted into large and airy bedrooms. Relaxation may take the form of walks on the property or lazing by the pool.
Howick Falls is situated in the Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve. The river tumbles about 100 m in a single fall over weather-beaten rocks.
Albert Falls Nature Reserve has tracts of mixed woodland, giving way to open grassland, as well as small marsh areas.
All of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, fireplaces and views of the grounds and the Karkloof Valley.
The enticing lounge with a roaring log fire and deep easy chairs and the friendly atmosphere of Steven's Bar or the dining room full of freshly cut flowers all promise a warm.
