Matyholweni Rest Camp

Matyholweni, which means 'in the bush' in Xhosa is located near the coastal town of Colchester at the Sundays River Mouth, just 3 km off the N2 highway, Matyholweni is easily accessible and provides a second gateway into the Park. Amenities such as shops, restaurants and a fuel station are available in the nearby town.

Visitors have access to the main wildlife viewing area of the Addo Elephant National Park via the southern access road which links to Addo Main Camp. Please note that the gate linking these two sections of the Park closes at 5.30 pm and there is no access after this time. The distance from Camp Matyholweni to Addo Main Camp through the Park is 39 km.

Accommodation is in cottages, each with BBQ facilities and twin beds. Some cottages also have a sleeper couch which is ideal for families travelling with young children. Each cottage has a kitchen with a fridge and microwave, and there is also an en-suite shower room and WC.

Accommodation only basis. PLEASE NOTE: Park fees are NOT included - these are as follows and are payable at the Park gate on arrival: From 1 November 2010 until the end of October 2011 - R140 per adult / R75 per child per day; From 1 November 2011 until the end of October 2012 - R150 per adult / R75 per child per day. All rates are subject to change. Reduced fees apply for SA citizens - rates on request.

Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request.
