Makweti Safari Lodge
Makweti Safari Lodge, in the 34,000 hectare malaria-free Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, is an exclusive getaway for those who value privacy, personalized service and the game viewing of an enviable diversity, combined with some of the most beautiful landscapes Africa has to offer.
Twice daily safaris in open vehicles or on foot, combine a landscape experience with game viewing - over 16 species of antelope, plains game, lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, wild dog and the rare brown hyena. The waterhole in the camp also attracts a passing parade of animals.
The lodge's chefs pride themselves in preparing innovative and exciting pan African cuisine, with a traditional twist that will delight the most discerning.
Meals are enjoyed on the dining room deck, offering elevated views of the Waterberg wilderness, in the dining room in the warm glow of an open fire, or under a starlit sky in a reed enclosed boma.
The main lodge is built from natural rock with teak decks overhanging the dramatic Makweti Gorge. Rare African art, stylish furnishings, rich woods, leather and woven textures create a rich elegance.
