Little Kulala
Sossusvlei, Sossusvlei and the Namib Desert
Little Kulala
Situated south of the Sesriem gate to Sossusvlei lies the private 21,000 hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve, the closest reserve to Sossusvlei itself with its own private entrance to the Park.
Little Kulala is in a prime location on the western side of the reserve. It offers magnificent dune scenery to the west, and the rugged Namib mountainous escarpment to the north.
An elegant entertainment area includes al fresco fine dining as a highlight. It has a stylishly decorated lounge area, a dining area with individual tables, a well-stocked bar, curio shop and a swimming pool, all under thatch.
Afternoon guided nature drives and walks can also be enjoyed on the private reserve to enjoy the Namib scenery and the desert-adapted wildlife and flora, ending in a sundowner to watch the sun set over the dunes.
Or for something completely unique, guests can take a camel ride across the dunes. 3 rides are currently offered - a very brief 10 minute ‘hop on / hop off’ ride; a short Photo Dune Ride and a longer Sundowner Ride. On the Sundowner Ride, guests ride out to a designated spot, where a table with drinks and snacks have been set up, and after sunset the riders decide whether to go back to the camp on the camels or by vehicle.
A staircase leading to the flat rooftop above the bathroom provides the ideal setting for star-gazing, and mattresses and duvets can be provided for an unforgettable night of sleeping out under the stars.
