Children Policy

Children of any age are welcome. Rates available on request. Children under 5 are not allowed on normal game drives. Babysitting services are available.

Children's Programme

Children under 5 years may go on game drives on the Kariega Reserve where they are able to enjoy rhino, hippo, giraffe, zebra and various antelope species, and are also welcome to join the morning game drive / river cruise combination activity.

Unfortunately, the lodge is unable to take younger children into the more dangerous sightings of lion and elephant, for safety reasons. Babysitting services are available while parents go on these game drives - rates available on request.

A qualified game ranger also takes children of all ages on a guided walk for a 'once in a lifetime' experience. This walk is undertaken on the eastern side of the reserve which is abundant in game.

Upon departure, the ranger will issue a 'Junior Rangers Certificate' to all children, which is a lovely reminder of their visit to the Kariega Game Reserve.
