Kapama Karula

Kapama Karula (formerly known as Gwalagwala) is a small, intimate safari lodge offering luxury tented camp accommodation in the Kapama Game Reserve, a 13,000 hectare fenced reserve situated near the Kruger National Park.

Characterised by rolling savannah grasslands and riverine forests, the reserve supports no less than 42 mammal species and approximately 350 bird species. Amongst the mammal species is the Big 5 - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.

Guests can enjoy morning and evening game drives on open safari vehicles in search of Africa's wildlife, in the company of experienced rangers and trackers.

In addition to the safari experience, guests are welcome to participate in numerous other activities, including elephant back safaris, clay pigeon shooting, hot air ballooning, a visit to the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, bushveld sleep outs and bush dinners.

Karula is built on the banks of the Klaserie River in undisturbed riverine forest. The 12 luxury safari tents are all en-suite, with a 'his and hers' basin, inside and outside shower and sliding glass doors that wrap around the tent 260 degrees to offer guest the opportunity to have unrestricted views onto one of the most sought after locations – the Klaserie river.

The tents are also air-conditioned and all other luxuries will be a given.

Inbetween game drives, guests can relax in the main lounge area, or enjoy a drink in the bar, or sit around the pool and pool deck - all with unrestricted views onto the Klaserie river.
