Check-In and Check-Out Times

Rooms may be occupied from 2 pm on the day of arrival, and must be vacated by 11 am on the day of departure for the convenience of arriving guests.

Published Rates Include

Welcome drink, 5 course dinner, breakfast buffet, lunch, fresh fruit baskets daily, transfers to all activities and specified activities including guided walks and 4x4 drives, horse riding, excursions to the archaelogical Klipgat Cave, whale watching trips (June to Dec), bird-watching and stargazing, are included.

Children Policy

Children of any age are welcome at Garden Lodge. Children over the age of 12 are welcome at Forest Lodge. Rates available on request.

Other Useful Information

Activities included in the rate and accompanied by Nature Guides are :
- Guided walks and 4x4 drives through the reserve
- 1-2 hour guided walks through the extensive Milkwood Forest.
- 1 hour guided horse rides through the reserve
- Guided excursions to the archaeological Klipgat Cave
- Guided trip along the nearby coast to view the whales (June to December)
- Guided walks along the rocky coast, exploring the marine life in the pools
- Opportunities to explore and picnic on sandy beaches,and swim in sheltered bays
- Stargazing - telescopes are great for watching stars, planets and the moon
- Bird-watching; experience a great variety of bird species on the reserve

Not-included activities:
- Boat-trips to Dyer Island to watch about Seals, penguins, Sharks, dolphins and the Southern Right Whales (June to December)
- Shark cage diving
- Scenic Flights

Grootbos has a special Children's Programme in which has been tailor made - details available on request. Children under the age of 6 are not allowed in the restaurant.
