Chapungu Camp is located within the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, which comprises of 11,500 hectares of fenced prime game viewing bushveld, and is home to the Big 5 as well as a variety of other African wildlife. The reserve is predominantly open savanna and with a near perfect year round climate it is the ideal safari holiday destination.

Chapungu Camp's unmatched hospitality and superb cuisine have earned them praise from visitors who return again and again.

Each day is planned to suit the guests, with game drives in search of the Big 5, bush walks or bird watching.

The beatings of drums summon you to a delicious 5-course banquet complemented by fine South African wines, served either in the outside boma around a roaring fire under the starry sky, or in the classically appointed dining room.

The rock pool is an ideal way to cool off from the hot African sun.

Chapungu Camp accommodates a maximum of 16 guests in 8 air-conditioned en-suite luxury tents.

Each safari tent is authentically furnished in colonial splendour, enhancing the ambience and comforts typical of a bygone era.

In-between game drives and bush walks, guests can relax and enjoy scenic views from the elevated deck, including the water hole, which is a major attraction with plenty of animals coming down for a drink.

Dawn and dusk safaris in open Land Rovers, bushveld walks, all meals, teas, coffees and snacks, plus the Thornybush Conservation fee and Tourism bed levy are included. PLEASE NOTE: For guests arriving and departing via FedAir, the landing / departure fees are excluded (payable directly to the lodge - rates on request).

"I want to say a vey big “thank you” for organising our stay at Chapungu - everything was fantastic – it all far exceeded our / my expectations.

The game drives were great and we had the most amazing guide and tracker – do you have an email for Chapungu as I would like to send them some photos as well. There was never more than 3 couples on the vehicle and their knowledge was outstanding.

Chapungu is particularly nice as there is room for only 16 people. The staff were extremely good as was the food – in fact we can fault nothing !"
