Activities

Mauritius has enough to keep everyone entertained during their holiday.

DivingDiving

The coral reefs that the surround most of the island (the exception being in the south) have not only blessed the island with beautiful beaches but also offer superb diving sites, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the huge range of marine life and the riotous colours of the ocean.

Exquisite fish like trumpet, box fish and clown fish all contribute to the breathtakingly magical beauty of life beneath the ocean. Giant moray eels, turtles, Tiger sharks and White-Tip sharks are quite common as well. There are also several shipwrecks for the more experienced diver to explore.

Blue Safari SubmarineBlue Safari Submarine

One of the most spectacular ways to explore the ocean beds is to go on board the Blue Safari submarine, which operates out of Grand Bay in the northern part of the island.

You will enjoy a superb encounter with the marine life and get a chance to see various wrecks dating back to the 17th century.

And for the real romantics, you can even choose to exchange your wedding vows while on the submarine !

Deep sea fishingDeep Sea Fishing

The deep waters around the island are also famous for deep sea fishing. Anglers are spoilt for choice between the blue or black marlin, all types of sharks, yellow tuna and barracuda to name a few of the exotic species that can be fished here.

Deep sea fishing goes on throughout the year in Mauritius, though the best season is from October to April, especially for those who are on the lookout for marlins.

Golf

Golf in MauritiusFor keen golfers, several of the island hotels have excellent golf courses. There are instructors to attend to customers’ needs including private tuition if required. Golf balls, clubs and caddies can be hired.

One of the most spectacular golf courses of Mauritius is the Le Touessrok Golf Course, which is set on its very own tropical island, fringed by white sands with a backdrop of green mountains - truly one of the world’s great golf settings. All 18 holes have views of the ocean. There are 9 lakes in all, with a number of holes requiring tee shots across sea inlets to the fairways.

Bernard Langer has designed the course to challenge advanced players, while remaining exciting and playable for recreational golfers.
