The Wonders of Africa

Summary Of The Route and Costs

Experience an authentic safari where evenings are lit by paraffin lamps and candelight, whilst during the day head out on Big 5 game drives and morning bush walks. Then end at the Falls, staying in a colonial styled lodge overlooking the mighty Zambezi, and experiencing the Falls from a birds eye perspective.

Your safari lodge is Notten's Bush Camp, one of the original game lodges in South Africa. The camp captures the warm and enchanting spirit of what the bush is meant to be.

Situated in the iconic Sabi Sand Game Reserve, this area offers perhaps the finest Big Five game viewing on the continent. You'll take game drives into the reserve at dawn and dusk, led by an expert guide and tracker. As the reserve is privately owned, your ranger can go off-road to find lion cubs playing in the shade of a tree or elephants gathered around a waterhole in the misty morning light.

In the evening, as night falls, enjoy the sounds of the African night, while dining in the candlelit boma beneath a canopy of stars.

Next, you'll take a flight to Livingstone in Zambia for the full Victoria Falls treatment for 3 nights. See one of the world's Seven Wonders of the Natural World from all angles - up close during a day tour to view the Falls from both the Zambia and Zimbabwe sides, and from above from a helicopter flight. Your room overlooks the mighty Zambezi River, which you will also get better acquainted with on a sunset river cruise.

Summary Of The Itinerary

Holiday Title: The Wonders of Africa

Countries Visited: South Africa and Zambia

Day 1

Arrive into Kruger Mpumalanga Airport. You will be met in the Arrivals Hall by your driver, and driven to Notten's Bush Camp, one of the finest family run lodges in Africa, and the best kept secret in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

During your stay here, you will go out early morning and evening game drive safaris in an open-top Land Rover with an experienced game ranger, where you can enjoy sightings of the Big 5 and other wildlife in the region. Or go out on a morning walking safari after breakfast with a game ranger to bring you as close as you will ever get to true nature.

Sabi Sand Game Reserve

4 nights at Notten's Bush Camp

Day 5

You will have an early breakfast (there will not be time for a game drive this morning) and then you will be collected and transferred back to the airport in time to check in for your international flight to Livingstone.

Airlink 4Z470 (Economy Class): Fly from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP) departing at 11:50 to Livingstone Airport (LVI), arriving at 13:35

Arrive into Livingstone Airport. Go through Immigration, collect your luggage and clear Customs, then make your way into the Arrivals Hall, where you will meet your driver. You will then be transferred to the David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa. PLEASE NOTE: We would recommend getting the UniVisa on arrival (subject to availability) - this allows tourists of certain nationalities to travel freely between Zambia and Zimbabwe, within a 30 day period from the date of their first entry.

Blending perfectly within the lush surrounds of the Zambezi river bank, the David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa offers 5* comfort only 7 km from Victoria Falls. The hotel boasts all river-facing accommodation so each guest can enjoy the view that once captivated David Livingstone, the intrepid explorer and missionary who was the first European to set eyes on the Falls.

Day 6

Today enjoy a full tour of the Falls from both the Zambia and Zimbabwe side (PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NEED TO GET A VISA TO CROSS INTO ZIMBABWE - ADDITIONAL COST AND FOR GUESTS TO ARRANGE - hence the suggestion for the UniVisa). A knowledgeable guide will take you on an unforgettable experience through the Victoria Falls rainforest, a journey that not only affords a view of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World but provides a great deal of interesting facts about the geology, wildlife and history of Africa's most famous landmark.

This afternoon you will be collected for your afternoon sundowner cruise on the mighty Zambezi River. Relax with a sundowner and snacks as you gaze out onto the banks of the river, and have your camera ready to capture one of the most amazing sunsets in Africa.

Day 7

Today, you will be collected for a morning game drive in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park - situated along the upper Zambezi River, and stretches for about 12 kilometres up the Zambezi River above the Falls. It is only 66 square kilometres, so because the Park is small, it affords a wonderfully relaxing drive alongside the river for much of the circular route, and the wide variety of species can be easily seen. The Park provides a home for numerous antelope species, zebra, giraffe, warthog, and a variety of birds and smaller animals. Elephants cross the Zambezi and freely walk through the Park and the surrounding area.

This afternoon, you will be collected for your 'Flight of Angels' an amazing journey over the 1700m vast curtain of water known locally as the 'smoke that thunders' and along the Zambezi River and the Zambezi National Park. Passengers are treated to an unforgettable helicopter journey offering unrivalled spectacular views, photographic, and filming opportunities and putting the full breadth and height of The Falls into glorious perspective within the surrounding environment.

Day 8

You will be collected and transferred back to Livingstone Airport, arriving in time to check in for your onward flight.
