Cape Town

Cape Town is one of the world's most beautiful cities.

Cape Town Harbour at SunsetWith a magnificent mountain as its centre, miles of sandy beaches, a colourful and moving history, and countless bars and restaurants, Cape Town captures the hearts of visitors from around the world.

During your stay here, you can take in some or all of the major attractions in the city, which include Table Mountain, Robben Island, township tour, Camps Bay, V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Gardens, and numerous museums and galleries.

Or you can make a day trip  down to the Cape Peninsula, stopping on the way there or on the way back at Boulders Beach, which is one of only 2 mainland nesting colonies of African penguins in South Africa.

 Hazyview

Three RondavelsThe Lowveld area around the Kruger Park is beautiful, with attractions including the Blyde River Canyon, the well known 'Panorama Route', and a couple of excellent animal rehabilitation projects.

The small village of Hazyview is an ideal place to base yourself for a couple of days to explore the surrounding area.

For something cultural, the traditional villages of Shangana are found just outside Hazyview, on the R535 towards Graskop.  The villages are home to families who invite guests to experience their culture and way of life.  Tours are led by trained guides.

On Safari in a Private Game Reserve

The safari lodges in the private game reserves which make up the Greater Kruger Park area offer possibly the best Big 5 game viewing opportunities to be found on the continent.

Game driveA stay here will give you a truly unforgettable wildlife experience.  Regular sightings of lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo are highlights of game drives, but guests will also enjoy seeing zebra, giraffe, antelope and many species of birds during the game drives.

Aside from the excellent standard of accommodation, food, and service in the lodges, the main attraction for wildlife enthusiasts is that the guides and trackers who take guests out on their morning and evening game drives are permitted to take their vehicles off-road in order to get closer to the wildlife.

If you want to get within a couple of metres of lions or leopards in the wild, then these are the places to stay - and you can be certain that your safari will be utterly magical.

Self-Drive Safari in Kruger

Kruger Self-DriveKruger National Park is the premier self-drive safari destination in South Africa, with an unbeatable variety of wildlife and habitats to explore, an excellent infrastructure of roads and accommodation, and a feeling of huge, wide-open spaces.

Self-drive in Kruger is a completely different experience from staying in a private reserve. Although you will probably not get as close to the wildlife (in Kruger itself you are restricted to the extensive road network), the thrill of waiting at a peaceful waterhole and having a sighting all to yourself is hard to beat.

There are many camps in the Park, offering a range of accommodation from rustic cabins to luxury houses to en-suite safari tents.

Time permitting, staying at a couple of different camps also gives you the opportunity to see more of this magnificent Park.

Kruger Park wildlifePerfectly located to give easy access to the excellent game-viewing areas of the Central Region, Satara is one of the largest camps in the Park, with open spaces, an abundance of birdlife, and a very pleasant atmosphere.

Lower Sabie is one of the best camps in the Park, and boasts a fantastic location right on the banks of the Sabie River. The area is rich with game, and the drive along the river between Lower Sabie and Skukuza is widely held to be one of the best in the Park for lion sightings.

Skukuza is by far the largest camp, and has the most facilities, including a bank, post office and garage.

Getting Home

Staying one more night back in Hazyview before driving to the Kruger Mpumalanga / Nelspruit Airport to catch your flight home will not only mean you get to spend longer in Kruger, but will also make your whole journey home much more relaxed.
