Possibly the most visited section of the Park is the scenic Chobe Riverfront area, which is also known as Serondela.
Only a short drive from Kasane, the area is extremely popular with day visitors, who cross the border from Victoria Falls and visit the Park for just a short game drive and river cruise safari experience.
However, to really make the most of this area, a stay of 2 or 3 nights is highly recommended.
As its name suggests, the Chobe River is the main attraction here, and along the riverfront, guests can delight in watching herds of elephants come to drink from the river.
Hippos are plentiful, and float lazily in the river during the day, and emerge at dusk to graze along the river banks.
Lion and cheetah are also regular sightings, mainly because of the number of giraffe, zebra and antelope that also reside in the area.
The marshy river banks are also home to the water-loving red lechwe and the very rare pukus.
The birdlife is exceptional - from the larger species such as kori bustards, secretary birds and maribou storks, through to the brilliantly coloured lilac-breasted rollers. Fish eagles swoop overhead, dive bombing into the river to catch their daily diet of fish.
